Safe Practices for Traffic Incident Responders SHRP2

September 7, 2016 @ 8:00 am - September 8, 2016 @ 5:00 pm

Traffic accident

Course Information/Description:

On scene responders are extremely important at any traffic incident. This course stresses how to address two simultaneous objectives specific to traffic collisions: safe procedures used to clear a crash scene and maximizing roadway space available for continued traffic movement. Participants with responsibility for traffic control at crash scenes are often required to operate in a very hazardous environment. During these events, both responders and motorists are at risk of being seriously injured in a secondary crash. Participants will learn the importance of “quick clearance,” one of the most effective actions to be taken. Participants are also provided important information related to effective Traffic Incident Management (TIM).

Audience:

Law enforcement personnel, Fire personnel, Rescue personnel, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel, Hazmat responders, City/County transportation personnel, Traffic control personnel, Corridor managers, Traffic Safety Committee personnel, Tow truck operators, Dispatchers
