Chuck has been a member with Nacogdoches Fire & Rescue since 1993. He promoted through the ranks and now holds the position of Administrative Captain over training & city safety. He also serves as the Training Coordinator with Angelina College Fire Academy in Lufkin. He is employed as a seasonal employee with Texas A & M Forest Service as an instructor and is credentialed as a Strike Team Leader with TIFMAS. He holds an Associate Degree from Weatherford College in Fire Service Administration and is certified as a Master Firefighter, Fire Instructor II - Master, along with many other certifications with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. Chuck serves as a member of the Curriculum and Testing Committee with TCFP. He enjoys teaching new fire recruits in many differrenct subjects, fire instructor, fire officer, and wildland courses.
Vince Abrigo is a 20 ½ year veteran with the McAllen Fire Department and is currently assigned to Operations on Truck Company Three. He currently holds the rank of Lieutenant and is also a member of the McAllen Fire Department Special Operations Team. Vince has always been an advocate for training being involved with various training seminars and regional training. He also, serves as Fire Training Coordinator for Texas State Technical College- Harlingen. He has Coordinated 22 Fire Academies producing approximately 600 firefighters throughout the South Texas Region. He currently serves on the board of the Texas Association Fire Educators holding the office of Vice-President.
Assistant Chief Rick Trevino has been a member of the Corpus Christi Fire Department since 1982. He has promoted through the ranks from Firefighter to Firefighter II-EMS, Captain, and Battalion Chief and currently holds the rank of Assistant Chief. Chief Trevino is a certified Paramedic , Advanced Firefighter and Fire Instructor III with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. He has been assigned to various disciplines throughout his career including Chief of Operations, Battalion Chief, Chief of Training and is currently the Assistant Chief over Support Services. Chief Trevino commands a staff of 4 Captains, a Fleet Maintenance Superintendent, and 3 Firefighter personnel. His primary responsibilities include, Research and Development, Apparatus and Medic unit Specifications, Fleet Maintenance, SCBA program, and Firefighting equipment purchasing as well as the NFPA 1851 program. Chief Trevino is also a member of Texas Task Force 1 (TX-TF1), an elite FEMA Search and Rescue team. He currently holds the position of Safety Officer on the White team.
Battalion Chief Mike Free has been employed with the Port Arthur Fire Department for more than 30 years. He is currently the Training Officer for Port Arthur overseeing all training for the 105 man department. Mike holds an Advanced Firefighter Certificate from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection, TCFP certificates for Instructor II, and Hazardous Materials Technician. He is also EMT Basic Certified by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Steve is a retired USAF Firefighter. Following retirement, he served for five years as Director of Fire Technology at College of the Mainland in Texas City. He is currently the Director of Tarrant County College Fire Service Training Center in Fort Worth.
Kilgore Fire Department Assistant Chief Mike Simmons has been the Chief of Operations since 2012. Simmons also serves as the Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Kilgore. Currently he is serving as the President of the Board of Directors for the Sabine Fire Department, which was recently successful in the formation of Gregg County ESD #2 covering the rural Liberty City community. He began his career with the Garland Fire Department in 1997 and credits GFD for excellent training and mentorship in a 15-year career that prepared him for his current duties with KFD. Chief Simmons holds multiple certifications and has been an Instructor with North Texas Fire Academy for 10 years where has had numerous opportunities to travel to Saudi Arabia to train Industrial Firefighters in the disciplines of Ropes Rescue and Hazardous Material Response.
Assistant Chief – Training | Fire
Jason Jackson joined the fire service in 1994 with La Marque Fire/Rescue. Jason currently is the Assistant Chief of Training for the Pearland Fire Department where he is responsible for training, professional development, along with Health and Safety. He served in the US Navy as a Damage Controlman aboard the USS Inchon and a member of the Hitchcock Volunteer Fire Department and the Friendswood Fire Department. Jason holds certifications as a Master Firefighter, Fire Officer IV, Fire Instructor III, Incident Safety Officer, Fire Inspector, Wildland Firefighter, and an EMT - Intermediate.
